Do you think about Cleansing and Detoxing? I've tried to get the benefits (legion, I'm sure) of the Master Cleanse. Really, I've tried. That's subsisting solely on lemon juice, maple syrup and cayenne pepper in water from one to ten days. I've yet to make it through a full day. The idea appeals to me however. I'll keep trying.
A colleague turned me on to The Raw Divas and their free seven day detox. I completed just three days my first attempt. This time, a month later, I made it all seven days. And very proud I am. The benefits of a raw detox for me are: clarity of mind, even and balanced energy, a welcome detachment from food obsession, significant weight loss and, finally, amazing clear and soft skin. Like the proverbial baby's bottom, I swear.
Day One is a 24-hour water fast. But so easy. From after dinner day one to dinner the next evening. So you're just foregoing one breakfast and one lunch.
The next six days are introduction practical application of new concepts.
Like spending a little time each day making raw vegetable snack packs for yourself to munch on between meals. And learning to prefer them!!!!!!!!!!! I especially like jicama, red peppers and fennel shaved very thin.
Like "Mono Meals", eating just one fruit or vegetable until you're satisfied. All oranges, all melon, all bananas.
Like Green Smoothies. Creating delicious fruit smoothie bases and then packing in dark leafy greens like spinach, kale or chard. You do acquire a taste for them. You can practically live on them.
So do look into it. It may take several tries to complete an entire week. But really really worth respecting your body and clearing out the junk!
